ON10 vs Veo vs CapCut vs Tagging It Yourself: Which Makes the Best Sports Highlight Video?

ON10 vs Veo vs CapCut vs Tagging It Yourself: Which Makes the Best Sports Highlight Video?

Quick answer

  • Tagging it yourself costs no money but often takes hours for every game.
  • CapCut is an editor: Pro is $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year, and you still find and cut the moments yourself.
  • Veo records the whole game for a team: reported prices run from about $398 in the first year (Veo Go) to $2,125 to $2,700 (Veo Cam 3).
  • ON10 follows one player in video you film on your phone. It is free to start, and ON10 Pro removes the limits and the watermark. Pricing will be shared at launch, and it is coming soon.

How do ON10, Veo, CapCut and tagging yourself compare?

They solve different problems. Veo is a camera and subscription that records a whole game for a team. CapCut is a video editor. Tagging yourself means marking your own moments in a full game video and cutting them by hand with free tools. ON10 is an AI app that finds you in a game video you filmed on your phone and clips your best moments. The right choice depends on who films, how many games you want to cover, and how much of your time and money you want to spend. Prices below were checked in October 2026 and change often, so confirm them before you buy.

What does each option cost?

Option What it is Money for the first year Your time per game
Tag it yourself Mark your moments and cut them with free tools $0 Often two to four hours
CapCut A general video editor $0 on the free plan, or $179.99 for Pro (or $19.99 a month) Still hours, because you find and cut the moments
Veo Go An iPhone rig and app that record the game About $398 reported ($50 once, plus $29 a month) Less filming effort, but you still tag clips
Veo Cam 3 A camera that records the whole field About $2,125 to $2,700 reported (camera plus a yearly plan) Low, but made for a team to share
ON10 AI that follows one player in your phone video $0 to start (1 clip a week), Pro pricing at launch Minutes: tap yourself, review, export

Tagging yourself: free, but you pay in hours

You watch the whole game, note the minutes of your best moments, trim each one and export. It needs no money and no new app, and it is how most players start. The cost is time, and the more games you film the more it adds up. Our guide on how to make a sports highlight video walks through it.

CapCut: powerful editing, but you still find the moments

CapCut is built for editing: templates, effects, captions and music. According to a pricing guide checked on October 12, 2026, CapCut Pro costs $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year in the US, and the free plan limits some Pro effects and exports, such as 4K and watermark-free exports. CapCut is a good finishing tool, but it is a general editor. It does not follow one player through a game, so you still watch the video and choose each moment. See CapCut pricing in 2026.

Veo: the whole game recorded for a team

Veo makes cameras that record a whole field automatically, plus subscriptions. A 2026 review reports the Veo Cam 3 at roughly $1,299 to $1,533 (about $1,886 for the 5G model) with school plans at $599 or $699 a year, so about $2,125 to $2,700 in the first year (source). A 2026 review of Veo Go reports $50 for the hardware and $29 a month (source), so about $398 in the first year. Veo’s own pricing page lists player highlight reels as an add-on, for soccer only (Veo plans and pricing). Veo is strongest when a club or school wants every game recorded without anyone holding a phone, and the cost is shared across a team. Veo’s pages did not show prices when we checked, so confirm them with Veo.

ON10: tap yourself once

ON10 works with video you film on your phone. You tap yourself once, the AI follows you through the game and clips your best moments, and the AI runs on your phone so your video is not uploaded. ON10 is free to start, with 1 clip every week. ON10 Pro removes the limits and the watermark, and pricing will be shared at launch. ON10 is coming soon to iPhone first and Android next. It supports football (soccer), American football, basketball, ice hockey, rugby, volleyball, handball, lacrosse, futsal, field hockey, netball, Gaelic football, hurling and Australian football (AFL). It needs a clear view of your player, and it does not record the game for you, so someone still has to film. Join the ON10 waitlist.

What does a season cost?

Here is an example. Say you film 20 games in a season.

  • Hiring an editor at about $100 to $200 a game would cost about $2,000 to $4,000. See how much a highlight video costs.
  • CapCut Pro at $179.99 a year is about $9 a game, plus the hours you spend finding moments.
  • Veo Go at about $398 in the first year is about $20 a game, and Veo Cam 3 at $2,125 to $2,700 is a team cost.
  • ON10 Pro will be priced at launch, and the free plan costs nothing.

These are simple divisions of the prices above, not quotes. They leave out the price of your phone and the value of your time, which is the biggest cost in the first two options.

Which one should you choose?

  • A parent or player who wants highlights of one player, every game: ON10 once it launches, or tagging yourself while you wait.
  • A club or school that wants every game recorded by itself: Veo, because the cost is shared and nobody has to film.
  • A player who loves editing and wants a polished social video: CapCut, using your own moments.
  • A one-off video: tag it yourself or hire an editor for a single game.

You can also combine them. A camera or a phone gives you the game video, and an AI app or an editor turns it into highlights. For recruiting, read Recruiting Highlight Video: How to Make One That Gets You Noticed.

FAQ

Is Veo worth it for one player?

Veo is built for teams and clubs, so the cost makes most sense when it is shared. For one player, a phone video and an AI tool or a free editor usually costs far less.

Is CapCut free for sports highlight videos?

CapCut has a free plan with basic editing. Some effects and exports, such as 4K and watermark-free exports, need Pro. It does not find your moments for you.

Does ON10 replace a Veo camera?

No. Veo records the game, and ON10 does not. ON10 works with video you film on your phone and clips one player’s best moments from it. See Veo, Trace, Hudl or a Phone for the other camera options.

How much does it cost to make a highlight video?

From nothing, if you do it yourself, to $100 to $200 per game for an editor. Our guide to highlight video costs compares all the routes.
